Maintenance
‘Improved availability and efficiency means increased savings’
Quality (bespoke) preventative maintenance coupled with state of the art monitoring is key to plant efficiency and thus a maximisation of customer savings. All our current maintained sites operate at 95% availability or greater.
To improve energy savings in underperforming CHP systems requires action on two fronts 1) attention where necessary to the plant design, optimising power and heat recovery systems and 2) quality maintenance thereafter.
The typical course of action any new customer of Heat and Power Services could expect would be as follows:
Initially:
Analyse the current and historical performance of the engine on a multiple set of parameters.
Quantify the existing plant availability, analysing the heat recovery and rejection systems.
Look at all potential heat uses (dumping) on site.
Assess the current level of system monitoring. We regard reliable monitoring as essential to good maintenance and offer a quality system, with remote monitoring as standard. In our experience most underperforming sites are characterised by an absence of adequate monitoring systems.
Produce an action proposal including commitments to performance guarantees.
Thereafter:
Action the assessment report for plant improvement.
Introduce bespoke monitoring system. We pride ourselves in this service – we will introduce remote monitoring and ensure that diagnostics are inbuilt.
Introduce Heat and Power Services Ltd quality maintenance protocols.
Use only the quality parts and oil that we know works the best. HPS as a supplier of genuine CHP spare parts, competitively priced?
Continue to use an innovative and preventative approach to optimising performance and customer savings.
Work to achieve agreed performance guarantees as a minimum.
Provide monthly reports on plant performance – especially ‘availability’.
Note: For our primary performance measure “availability” we always choose the most challenging definition:
Working in partnership with a major European Caterpillar dealer we have established a tailored maintenance infrastructure that allows us to offer extended service intervals and oil life, with increased hours between major overhauls.
“In Heat and Power Services’ experience, poor reliability (and reduced savings) is the main cause of customer dissatisfaction”
“In addition to our expertise and experience, we have first class consultancy connections in the CHP business”.
Our ‘case studies’ and ‘bio-gas project’ sections (with testimonials) illustrate in more detail how Heat and Power Services can turn around underperforming CHP plants and greatly improve savings.
